Welcome to the Hesperia Unified School District Police Department website.  I hope you find our website both helpful and interesting.

Hesperia Unified School District is the largest school district in the high desert, covering nearly 160 square miles, serving approximately 21,000 students (K–12) on 26 separate campuses.  Our district is also the largest employer in the high desert, employing approximately 2,100 employees.

The Hesperia Unified School District Police Department (HSPD) is also the largest school police department in the high desert.   Our department is a fully accredited California P.O.S.T.  police agency employing full-time sworn police officers, a police service officer and support staff.  Our primary role is to maintain order and security in and around school and district facilities.  However, our school police officers provide far more of themselves than many other agency's officers.  We take a leading edge and a proactive role in creating a positive learning environment by developing a rapport with students and staff.  Officers engage in daily contact with students, staff, teachers, and the community.  This is not only supported but encouraged.  The complexities associated with school policing requires HSPD officers to be multifaceted, intuitive, and capable of resolving seemingly minor issues before they become overwhelming issues.

Working in concert with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Probation Department, District Attorney’s Office, Department of Children's Services,  Code Enforcement, community leaders, and school administrators, the Hesperia School Police Department strives to ensure the students enjoy a safe learning environment.  As a result, students benefit by being better able to concentrate their attention on learning and growing.
